This workshop will introduce an ancient bookbinding technique that is well suited to the 21st century. This type of binding has been found on books dating back to the 8th - 9th century. The workshop will cover the specific sewing techniques and attachment of the exterior recycled binder’s board (provided by the instructor, or participants may bring an old book that they’d like to use).

The books that we make can be used as scrapbooks, journals, recipe books, or just about anything. The instructor will provide materials but participants are encouraged to bring recycled materials that they’ve saved up. Appropriate lacings and closures for this type of binding will be presented during the class.

COST: $45 plus $5 materials fee for binders glue, linen thread, and bookbinding needles.
