Instructor Bio: - “Personally, I love the intimacy of fiber work, whether it is a production skein or “high art”. Fibers connect us to the long-standing tradition of fiber artists before us, and those of us currently working in our discipline. I experience a sense of kinship, of the belongingness that we crave as humans and each creative process feeds the other. For 25 years I painted. I returned to my fiber roots, bringing with me an awareness of color, texture and line relationships. I have a B.A. in painting and an M.A. in Open Media with an emphasis in fibers and ceramics.
My education gifted me with a keen appreciation of my place in art history. Today, I also teach women’s art history. I like to think that someday, long after we’re gone, our works will show alongside the great painters and sculptors; as fiber artists we will have had our moment in creating that setting.”
