Rhythmic Concepts and Hand-Drumming Techniques
By Andy Skellenger

Half Day workshop (3 hours)
9am-12pm on Saturday under the big tent

This workshop is an opportunity for musicians and non musicians of all ages and skill levels to learn about rhythm and drumming from professional percussionist, Andy Skellenger. It will begin with a performance and demonstration of the art and language of tabla, one of the most advanced hand drums on Earth and Andy's main instrument. Then he will be teaching rhythmic concepts and hand drumming techniques beginning with basic easy material and gradually moving to more advanced. The material covered will be catered to those who attend. Everyone is invited, even if you've never touched a drum. The last hour will be focused on the more experienced drummers and musicians in attendance so that every one will go away having learned something and with plenty to practice. Andy is a professional percussionist, drum maker, and educator from Crestone Colorado.

Workshop attendees should bring any hand drums they own.  Andy will have drums for people to try out as well.

The workshop fee is $45 for a half day.  The workshop will be held Saturday from 9am-12pm.
