Instructor Bio: I learned to knit as a child, but I was never happy
just following printed patterns. When my children were in 4H, we
raised sheep and goats as a family project, taking them from breeding
to birth, and then to the dinner table. In a logical progression, we
also learned how to shear the fleeces, pick, wash, card and spin the
fiber into yarn. The kids are now gone, but my husband and I still
raise a small flock of colored angora goats. If you know anything
about goats, you know they own the place, but they let us live there.
My job as a nurse midwife takes me 90 miles from home, giving me lots
of time to fill with spinning and knitting. I have found that spinning
and knitting are wonderful ways for me to relax, and I find that
creating something from beginning to end is very fulfilling.
In this class we will discover how to use fiber to re create 3-Dimensional landscapes of the southwest.
